Due to health issues, I am unable to do the work that is available in the area. Instead of welfare options, I started Charlevoix County Genealogy, as a means of income. I think that this site has been successful considering that the site has been up for only 9 month, and that I do not advertise with banner adds on the other major genealogy sites. There has been much work in the creation this web site, over a year of transcribing before the web pages even went up. I have found records that even our county clerk doesn't have on file.

Most new businesses will not turn a profit for the first few years, Charlevoix County Genealogy is no exception. Though my monthly average is on the rise, I still only make enough to just cover the phone bill. Our main income came from my husband.

On September 18, my husband lost his job, after being assured, three days prior, that this merger would not effect his employment with the company. Not only did this merger take his employment, but his last 3 weeks of pay, which we do not expect to see.

We went apply for assistance from the state, and have had problems as our local FIA doesn't understand the term "self-employed" they need proof that this web site exists, and that the effort behind it's creation and maintenance.

I have received letters from several visitors, as well as clients that state this. What I am asking is that if you would like to send a letter, please send it to fiaweb@michigan.gov not that I don't love reading them, but I could really use the support.

Thank You
